We experienced many modes of locomotion to travel to and within this part of the world.

Rickshaw self propelled

From our “partially” electric two seater to high speed trains we “enjoyed” a variety of of transportation modes.

Relatively comfortable trains

There were some of the dreaded, but frequent, Italian train strikes that impacted some of our travel buddies, but we were fortunate in having a relatively smooth experience.

With limited luggage room. Lucky we used smaller that fit above our seats

Then a few hundred more grey hairs were added (some lost) during our taxi rides in Naples. Here the faint of heart need not apply as only the survival of the fittest will reach your destination. And even then they may leave some vital parts of their vehicle strewn behind.

I also had the pleasure of trying to squeeze a large SUV down roads unchanged since the Roman era. Again without incident other than the fight with the rental company about pre paid insurance.

So imagine our relief when we were in the hands of a more professional driver not practicing for the Grand Prix. Lorenzo drove like an Italian with the courage to take corners that I would not have dared, but with a speed and assurance to not disrupt his passengers.

It might have been more flexible to rent one of these smaller cars or the Fiat comparable. However their reliability reputation may have precluded reaching our destination.

In many cases we used the oldest, but most reliable transportation mode. Often the most efficient, especially on the many, and often less than flat cobblestone streets.
