Hama-Riyku Garden

Once the “beach”residence of the powerful Shoguns of the Tokugwa dynasty dating from before the 1600’s, it became a part of the holdings of the Japanese imperial family. Now it has been opened to the public as a place of refuge and tranquility in the heart of Tokyo.

Resisting the encroachment of and overlooked by towering giants of steel and glass

With the company of banzai like trees and soaring egrets you could spend hours, or maybe just a quick lunch break, to replenish your soul.

We walked the gardens before gathering much needed energy with matcha tea and sweets made from bean paste.

Revitalized we can press onwards to the next discovery.

  2. Markets to gardens, you’ve found the perfect spot to catch you breath and it looks beautifully calm and relaxing. Enjoy!

  3. yes, i remember that…a mini central park in a concrete jungle…

and we would expect nothing less from you than a first trip to a market to look at the (mostly) delicate way food is presented…
