City walking is exhausting. So today we decided to take it easy with a goal of under 20,000 steps (19,127 as of bedtime).

Our last stop of the day was Ueno park – a beautiful green space and home to an ornate shrine.

Ueno TĹŤshĹŤ-gĹ« – said to have been built in 1627, by TĹŤdĹŤ Takatora.[4] It is known that in 1627 it was dedicated to the memory of Tokugawa Ieyasu (1542–1616),[3] the founder and shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate of Japan, which effectively ruled Japan from the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600 until 1868.

As we were in dallying mode it was fortunate that there was a dahlia garden exhibit. Strolling through the garden was restful and provided a break from the hectic pace of the past few days.

Since we missed cherry blossom season and the fall change of colour is some weeks away we at least enjoyed this display of colour and floral architecture.
