On a clear day you can see…but this only occurs less than 20% of the time.

Each day is rated for clarity ours was 9-10

But then you take so many pictures in case it disappears..

So many angles

Took about 2 hours by bus and then a 20 minute “pirate boat” boat ride to the base and a gondola (ropeway) to Station 5 at about 2300 meters.

An active volcano, Mt Fuji tops out at over 12,000 ft and you can climb to the top (Rolly, Cheryl, Fil, Chris). It requires a reservation and a small fee.

Get up early

Early start is required and an overnight stay so you summit just before sunrise and do a sun salutation. Then a six hour descent.

But best to be in shape as you contend with less air as well as sulphuric fumes from underground.

Sulphur infused Egg

You can fuel before your climb by cooking an egg in one of the many natural sulphuric hot pots.

Alas we must leave the sacred mountain behind and head back to the lights of Tokyo.

A few parting views.
